On June 19th, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi - the beloved democracy leader in Burma - will turn 60 years old. She will spend yet another birthday under house arrest. In 1989 when Suu Kyi emerged as a leader and as the internationally known face of the struggle for democracy in Burma, no one could imagine that she would spend much of the next 16 years in prison and under house arrest.

Please join me on June 19th as I place myself under house arrest in solidarity with Daw Suu. This will be an occasion not just to learn more about the struggle in Burma but also to enjoy a small taste of Burmese culture.

The program will include:

- Author Kenneth Wong reading from his book "A Prayer for Burma"
- [anonymous], musician, ethnomusicologist, and frequent visitor to Burma
- Jeff Greenwald, author, founder/director of Ethical Traveler
- Video screenings
- Burmese music
- Burmese food

The event will also be a fundraiser for the Washington DC based US Campaign for Burma, an action oriented organization working for change in Burma. Suggested donation is $20-$40 per person (tax deductible).
