This view of a surrounding neighborhood is just one of many seen from Beisi Ta, just north of center Suzhou. The original 11-storey pagoda was built in the third century A.D. It was rebuilt in the 16th century and is now only nine stories high, but still holds claim to the highest pagoda south of the Yangtze River.
