While traveling from Lijiang to Dali in northwest Yunnan, we came upon this street procession. From our bus it was hard to tell what kind of ceremony was in progress, but as we passed a number of Bai and Yi hamlets (both peoples originating from the Nanzhou kingdom in the 8th century) along the way, I gathered it was a Bai New Year's celebration.
