There is a certain irony to this image; this peaceful looking place was the site of of the Tiananmen student massacre in 1989. While in Beijing, nobody wanted to talk about the tragic events around June 4th, out of despair, habit, or both. Still, each year in early June, you can feel the air in Beijing stiffen as students are warned against any group organization, and PSB (Public Security Bureau) officials mandated to watch for unwarranted activity.
